Sample Collection Guide

Preparation

01

Place the collection carton in your toilet

It's designed to fit perfectly and make everything clean and simple.

02

Put on Your Gloves

We've included disposable gloves for your comfort and hygiene.

03

Set Up the Tube

Take your collection tube and stand it vertically in the round hole inside the carton. Twist off the cap carefully (mind the preservation liquid inside).

Collection & Packaging

04

Collect Your Sample

After your bowel movement, take the sampling device (check the piston is at the right position), insert it vertically into the stool, rotate 2-3 times, and pull out. If the chamber needs more, simply repeat - there's no rush.

05

Transfer and Seal

Insert the device into your collection tube, push the sample down, and discard the device. Tighten that cap well - you want to see about 20ml of liquid.

06

Package with Care

Write your details on the ziplock bag, seal your tube inside, place in the return box, and into our prepaid envelope.

07

Tidy Up

Dispose of the carton, device, and gloves in your regular bin. All done!

Understand your Colosafe® result

Choose your result to see what it means and the recommended next step. Colosafe is a screening test. Your clinician will advise on diagnosis.

POSITIVE RESULT

What this means

Gene variations linked to colorectal neoplasms were found in your stool sample.Ct value: ≤ 38

About Ct values

Ct is a laboratory number on your report used by scientists to detect the DNA signal. Lower numbers indicate a stronger signal.

Precautions and limitations
  • Colosafe is a screening test. Results should be considered with your overall health and medical history.
  • False negatives and false positives can occur. Continue screening as advised.
  • A single negative result does not rule out future disease. Repeat testing is recommended.
  • If you have symptoms of bowel cancer, seek clinical advice.
  • Participation in national screening programmes should continue where appropriate.
More detail
  • Colosafe is under evaluation in Ireland and performance in Irish patients is still being studied.
